Macgyver is a secret agent with a difference. He is quiet, mild mannered, deeply principled and refuses to carry a gun on his missions. Fortunately, the last detail is unimportant when compared to his astounding mind. Drawing on a vast practical knowledge of science, Macgyver is able to make use of any mundane materials around him to create unorthodox solutions to any problem he faces. The enemies of world peace and justice continually learn that underestimating this man is a fatal mistake for their plans. The adventures of a secret Agent armed with almost infinite scientific resourcefulness. Were they kidding???? Was 80s television just so perfect that they had to add such a horrible hour long show? Must've been. About 80 percent of MacGyver's "scientific ingenuity" was total BS. Anyone who took high school science knows it. Like when he uses a chewing gum wrapper to replace a blown fuse, smart idea until the circuit overloads again and the wiring combusts. Or when he dips his jacket in PCP and ignites it later, blowing up a munitions depot, now thats original. Most of the action scenes were so poorly done that it was easy to see the parts that were just videotaped (instead of filmed) in a studio. I could overlook all of that if there was an exciting story or likeable characters, but none are in site. The most ridiculous was Richard Dean Anderson (and his character's) vicious disdain for guns (Anderson himself is a gun control activist) but then why is he preaching to us and then blowing up everything he can reach with a tank of gasoline?? I heard a couple years ago the UPN network was working on a "young MacGyver" series, then i heard nothing else about it. does anyone out there know anything about this? i've only looked briefly, but would be very interested in knowing if this was really on the books as a valid statement. I believe i heard it on a radio broadcast but i cant remember, it must have been at least 2 years ago now, maybe a little more. at this point i am babbling because this thing needs to be 10 lines or more and i only really had a 1.5 line question to ask, so don't think anything important is gonna happen in these next few lines, because nothing will.
